Children, adolescents, and adults use the executive function to track details, organize, strategize, pay attention, and manage time. Deficits in the Executive Function can have substantial impact on academic performance, personal relationships, and daily life. This course offers students an opportunity to strengthen skills and learn tools to cope with skills impacted by the Executive Function.


By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Identify major skills impacted by the Executive Function.
  • Identify personal Executive Function strengths and challenges.
  • Learn strategies for strengthening specific E.F. skills.
  • Develop a daily practice for strengthening specific E.F. skills.
  • Learn how to successfully use organizational tools such as to-do lists and planners
  •  Learn how to set goals and identify ways to stay flexible in the face of obstacles and anxiety


This course will provide an analysis of executive function skills, instruction in using tools to cope with Executive Function deficits, and coaching in strategies that can strengthen specific Executive Function skills. At the beginning of the course, students will complete a self-assessment and pinpoint their Executive Function strengths and challenges. Each of the following weeks will focus on a specific skill or skills impacted by the Executive Function. Students will participate in E.F. skill-strengthening activities and discuss how each of the E.F. skills impacts academic performance, personal relationships, and their everyday lives.

About Maggie

After earning her BA from Williams College, Maggie worked as a Special Education teacher in the New York City public school system for six years. During this tenure, she planned and implemented interventions for middle and high school students with autism and Executive Function deficits. She also earned her master’s in Education and was nominated Lead Teacher in her school district. In Seattle, she worked at a private school for two years teaching students with autism, ADD/ADHD, and Executive Function issues. She wrote educator resources on strategies for working with students with disabilities, and developed a program for building Executive Function skills which was used school-wide. Currently she works as a coach and tutor for students with ADD/ADHD, Executive Function issues, and other learning disabilities.

Cancellations made less than 5 business days in advance of the class will be partially refunded at 50% (for example, $250 refund payment for a $500 class).
