Our Coaches

After you submit an enquiry, we'll suggest two coaches that match your specific needs. You'll have the opportunity to meet with both and choose the best fit. However, if you know which coach or coaches you'd like to meet with, you can make a request by emailing hello@hamptontutors.com or submitting an online enquiry.


  Andy  is the founder of Hampton Tutors. Originally from the UK, he has an undergraduate degree from Oxford University and a master's from the University of Edinburgh. He specializes in writing-based subjects, but can also help with High School Math, Sciences, Languages and Test Prep.

  Brian  has an undergraduate degree from Cornell, and a postgrad from Columbia; he's currently studying for a PhD at UW. He has been teaching for ten years, working with students of all ages. His specialist subjects are Language Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and English as a Second Language. He can also teach Spanish or Dutch.

  Michael  has a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Caltech, and completed his undergraduate and master's degrees at Cambridge University in the UK. He has tutored students from Middle School age up to university-level in Math and Science.

  Giselle  holds an undergraduate degree from Brown University, and a master's degree in Special Education. They have worked as an ELA and History teacher in a special education middle school in New York, and have coached students of all ages with mild to moderate learning difficulties.

  La'akea  is currently pursuing his PhD in Social and Cultural Foundations of Education at the University of Washington. He holds a master's degree in Classics from Oxford University. He has experience tutoring humanities and writing subjects.

  Josh  is currently a PhD student in the Economics Department at the University of Washington. He teaches undergraduate and graduate-level Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, and also specializes on helping students through the complexities of all levels of Math. Prior to UW, Josh earned a Master of Economics from Boston University.

  Kevin  holds master's degrees from both Yale and UC Riverside. He has taught college-level logic, philosophy, and writing for fifteen years; he has also worked with over 300 students on their SAT, ACT, and GRE.

  Tim  holds a PhD in Cognitive and Neural Systems, and a B.S. in Biology from Caltech. Since moving to Seattle, he has coached Math and Biology at a private school; previously he has coached neuroscience and computer programming.

  Gina  is currently studying for a master's in Social Work at the University of Washington. She specializes in Social Sciences, the Humanities, Writing Skills and Executive Function. She has experience coaching students with ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Anxiety issues.

  Paul  has a BA in Biochemistry, and a Master of Education from the University of Washington with a focus on Science education. He specializes in Math and Science coaching, AP classes, and the non-verbal parts of the SAT and ACT. He also has experience working with students with learning difficulties.

  Stephanie  has 10 years of experience tutoring students from a variety of backgrounds. She has extensive experience with working with students with Special Educational Needs. She has taught high school level courses in Geometry, Chemistry, and Psychology.

  Shelby  is a Math teacher, currently working in the Seattle Public School system. She has formal training in working with students with various learning difficulties.   Shelby coaches students at the middle and high school level in Math.

  Troy  is a PhD student in Physical Therapy at UW. He has  more than 10 years of experience tutoring in Math, Chemistry, Biology and executive function. .

  Olivia  has a degree in Philosophy and Literature from Notre Dame, and her tutoring experience covers nearly every academic subject. Before joining Hampton Tutors, she ran her own tutoring business, where she taught essay-writing, math, science and SAT/ACT Preparation.

  Chris  has a master's degree from Cambridge University; he is the author of roughly 25 books, several of which have won prizes or been adapted for television or film. He offers coaching across a number of subjects, most particularly English Language and Literature.

  David  has a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska and has worked with students of many ages to navigate Autism, Anxiety, and organizational difficulties.

  Matthew  is a seasoned coach with experience and training in a variety of subjects including Economics and Physics. He started tutoring during his undergraduate studies at Notre Dame University and went on to work with students in Chicago to prepare for the SAT/ACT.

  Alan  is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Washington with a background in Psychology. He has worked with children who have ADD, PTSD, autism, and other emotional and behavioral challenges to reduce anxiety and improve social skills, and specializes in helping students achieve a head space where they can successfully process new information and think critically.

  Meg  has worked with children for over 20 years. She has worked in both private and public schools and currently specializes in coaching students with dyslexia and other difficulties with reading and writing.

  Robin 's coaching experience includes tutoring high school and middle school students in subjects varying from Algebra and Pre-Calculus to Language Arts and Social Studies. She has a bachelor's degree in Journalism and studied French Culture and Language Studies at Université Stendhal in Grenoble, France.

  Bernard  is currently undertaking a postgraduate degree in Data Journalism at UW. He has experience coaching the SAT, ACT, as well as AP courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences. As a journalist, he has written front-page articles for the  Seattle Times  and  Jerusalem Post.

  Laurie  has a master's degree in Special Education, and a BA in Deaf Education. She was the lead teacher in a special education program in the Lake Washington Public School System. She coaches elementary, middle, and high school students.
